 | Douglas Barrett, Visiting Scholar; CTV Professor in Broadcast Management, Schulich School of
Business; President and CEO, PS Production Services Ltd.
 | Mr. Barrett is the current Visiting Scholar for the CTV Professorship in Broadcast Management at Schulich.
From 2004 to 2008 he was Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Television Fund. While Chair, Mr. Barrett reformed the Fund’s complex governance and funding practices and led strategic responses to examinations by the CRTC, the Parliamentary Committee on Canadian Heritage, the Senate Committee on Transport and Communications and the Auditor General of Canada.
For 20 years until 2006, Mr. Barrett was the senior partner practising Media & Entertainment law at McMillan LLP. He has been listed by the legal directory LEXPERT as one of Canada’s 500 Leading Lawyers.
He is currently the President & CEO of PS Production Services Ltd., a major film and television production equipment rental house with operations in Vancouver, Toronto, Halifax, Winnipeg and Regina.
Mr. Barrett has served on several boards for periods exceeding 10 years, including the Banff Television Festival, the Feature Film Project of the Canadian Film Centre and the Canadian Film and Television Production Association. He was the founder of the Alliance Atlantis Banff Television Executive Program.
Mr. Barrett holds a BA from York University (Founders, 1970), an MSc in Broadcast Management from the Newhouse School of Communications of Syracuse University (1972), and a law degree from Dalhousie University (1975).
He is effective in English and French. |
