 | Maureen Atkinson has an extensive background in retail operations and retail marketing research, including 10 years with Eaton’s, a department store chain, and many years in retail consulting and research.
Maureen joined J.C. Williams Group in 1982 and now heads the company’s market research activities. She is also a founding member of Urban Marketing Collaborative, the urban revitalization practice of J.C. Williams Group.
Maureen has led many J.C. Williams Group research and strategic planning projects. Examples of the range of activities include the following:
ˇ Consumer surveys and positioning plans
ˇ Customer segmentation studies
ˇ Branding research using qualitative and quantitative measures
ˇ Real estate research to evaluate expansion concepts for malls through focus group and survey research
ˇ Customer tracking studies for both consumers and small businesses
ˇ New product development
ˇ New retail concept development using in-depth store interviews and focus groups.
Maureen has a degree in Administrative Studies from York University, is a member of the Market Research and Intelligence Association (MRIA), and has written and spoken extensively on research in retailing. She is a former member of the board of the Canadian Automotive Association (CAA) South Central Ontario where she chaired the Strategic Management Committee.
