When to Enrol in Courses
Enrolment access dates and times are determined by credits earned in the program, with priority access given to students with the most credits. We encourage students to enrol in classes as soon as their access period begins to enable them to most effectively plan their program.
Students can find out the date they are able to enrol by logging in to the Access dates and times system.
- Summer access dates are posted in early March.
- Fall & Winter access dates are posted in early June.
How to Enrol in Courses
To enrol in classes, all students must use a Passport York account to log in to the York Registration and Enrolment system. Click to enable your Passport York account.
Students locate the catalog numbers for the courses they are permitted to enrol in using the Schulich Course Offerings pages for the appropriate term (Fall, Winter, Summer). A catalog number is the 6 digit number attached to a course: eg. ACTG 5100 3.00 Section G had S37K01 as its catalog number in Winter 2010.
Students then use these catalog numbers to enrol via the York Registration and Enrolment system.
Enrolment with Instructor Permission
During the second week of classes, students may enrol into courses with the permission of the instructor only. The wait list will no longer be in effect. A completed Enrol with Instructor Permission Form must be submitted to Student Services by the specified deadline. After the second week of classes, students will no longer be able to add themselves to courses and are not permitted to attend courses for which they are not formally enrolled.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Students may only request instructor permission during the period indicated on the form. Prior to this period, enrolment into courses will only be allowed by receiving permission from the wait list.
- Instructors are not required to grant permission to students even if there is still space in the course.
- Instructors will consider if you have attended their first and/or second class when granting permission.
- Students should ask the instructor to complete this form before or after class. Email requests may take instructors some time to respond which can result in missing the submission deadline.
