16th Annual Seymour Schulich Awards for Teaching Excellence
Seymour Schulich has generously donated funds to support annual student-run, student-voted awards recognizing teaching excellence. These Teaching Excellence Awards are among the largest such awards in North America.
Mr. Schulich's vision is that the winners of this award be instructors at Schulich whose excellence in teaching is recognized by their students.
Excellence in teaching includes:
- Knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, the subject matter
- Exceptional teaching strategies and communication skills
- Positive student learning experiences
- Teaching innovation
- Responsiveness to student needs and concerns
Two awards are granted each year - $15,000 for the first place winner and $10,000 for the second place winner in each program. Winners are selected based on the percentage of students voting for the instructor who have been taught by that instructor.
