President and CEO of Scotiabank, Rick Waugh
"As Canada's most international bank, Scotiabank recognizes the value of exchanging information across different countries and different cultures. The Scotiabank-Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada Awarded the Schulich IMBA in 1998 the Excellence in Internationalization program. The IMBA reflects both the international nature of our firm and the need for Canadian students to have an international vision in their graduate business studies. The Schulich IMBA is a truly unique program in international management in Canada." | |
Jean-Marc Hachey, author of "The Big Guide to Living and Working Overseas", quoted in Transitions Abroad www.workingoverseas.com
"International careers don’t just happen. They are carefully planned and built up over a period of time. International employers insist that you have international experience before sending you to work abroad. The key to gaining international experience is to dive into all things international while you are at university. You need to build up a host of international experiences before you are ready to start applying for professional international jobs. And the great thing about building these experiences is that you can have a blast doing it!" |
i + MBA = A world of advantages
The IMBA is the Schulich MBA + International. All IMBA students need to have verbal fluency in at least two languages. Other IMBA region specialization languages may be considered and in the past have included: Portuguese, Cantonese, Hindi, Russian, Tagalog, Korean, and Serbo-Croatian. The language of specialization must be spoken in your region of specialization. Students graduate with the demonstrated ability to conduct business in an international language..
Exchange Term
You will have an opportunity to apply to one of Schulich's exchange partners which are the world's top business schools enabling you to develop a network of contacts around the world with whom you can interact throughout your career.
International Field Study
During the international field study, you undertake a real-time strategic consulting project at a real world business or organization with international operations.
Courses
You will have access to specially designed international management courses, as well as to Schulich’s more than 100 elective courses in 18 areas of specialization with everything from finance to non-profit management.
