Strategy. In the past few years it has become more than just a part of business language. Today, as markets are created faster, evolve more quickly, and attract increased competition, successful organizations have come to realize that solid strategies are a necessity for survival.
At the Schulich School of Business at York University, we believe strategy is so fundamental to corporate success that we have gone beyond the usual in our integration of strategic management into our graduate studies. We require our Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Public Administration (MPA) students to produce a comprehensive and in depth strategy study of a company or other organization, in addition to their classroom work. No other management school in Canada requires such a thorough study or devotes as much faculty time to such a project.
The companies receive a comprehensive analysis of their organization and industry; the students apply the concepts and ideas learned from lectures and readings. The benefits of the study are mutual.
Since the program was introduced, over 2400 organizations (over 85 each year) have participated.
Students have studied a broad range of organizations: business, not-for-profit, and public sector.
